  • Easter 2009

    Easter Sunday 2009 Dancers.

Easter Sunday our Church service had a group of little girls dancing. During the performance I was overcome with emotion. Not a normal occurrence. I asked the Lord what this was, and the answer I heard was “This is how I see you”.

The Lord told me that this was a prophetic act that none of the people involved realized the full impact. The “you” is all of us who are believers. As I prayed into this I now understand more.

First let me explain the emotion. Joy, happiness, or any other similar word doesn’t adequately describe the emotion I felt. The only other times I have experienced something similar is when one of my grandchildren will spontaneously run up to me and wrap their arms around me. Some of you may now relate to the emotion I experienced.

Next these were normal little girls that have listened, watched, and practiced in order to perform this dance. We saw them at their best, but sometime during this time period they were messy, needy, whiney, typical little kids.

Next, I have had the opportunity to see professional ballet at the Lincoln Center in New York. Typically my first response to a similar performance at church, a school, or elsewhere is to compare it to the best I have seen. The Lord informed me that the performance on Easter was more pure and better than any other dance I had seen. the performance was not the best that can be done, but they meant it, it was their best, let this sink in.

The message of this prophetic act by a group of little girls, and those who helped them prepare is this. When we as believers follow through out of our knowledge of God, out of obedience with our best effort, even though it isn’t the best, and we are messy, needy, whiney, humans, it fills him with an emotion that is very good.

  • It is about Him

For several years the Lord has had me read in Hebrews 10, either the entire chapter, or He will point out specific verses. Recently He had me go to Hebrews 10:12 & 13 "But this man, after he had offered one sacrifice for sins for ever, sat down on the right hand of God;  From henceforth expecting till his enemies be made his footstool." What captured my attention was the word "till". I then had the picture of Jesus sitting on His throne, at the right had of the Father, anxious to proceed to the next part of the plan. What I understood is that sitting at the right had of the Father is a temporary position. Jesus is waiting in anticipation to get off of the throne.

The above verses in Hebrews are actually Paul referencing Psalm 110. Verses 1 - 3 of Psalm 110 state "LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool . The LORD shall send the rod of thy strength out of Zion: rule thou in the midst of thine enemies. Thy people shall be willing in the day of thy power, in the beauties of holiness from the womb of the morning: thou hast the dew of thy youth." The Hebrew word for "willing" is "nedabah" (Strong's #5071) meaning to spontaneously volunteer. It comes from the root word "nadab" (Strong's 5068) meaning to freely volunteer, or freely offer oneself.

The reason Jesus is getting off of His throne is to gather His bride unto Himself. His enemies being made His footstool is a result or consequence of their actions, and we the bride, are to be part of this battle and victory. The problem is that we, the church in North America, are not volunteering. We are not prepared to be His army, nor His Bride. Compare 2 Timothy 2:3&4 with Jeremiah 6:13&14 and tell me based on the North American church which we resemble. We still want to be healed and peace in our lives, heck who doesn't, but the times call for action against the enemy. Psalm 110 says to Jesus "Rule in the midst of Your enemies" with us as His volunteers to bring about His will by His authority.

I have seen a television show called "Bridezillas" where they follow women in preparation for their wedding. These women are self absorbed, and they only care about their fantasy wedding. They care nothing about the groom, and are not looking beyond the wedding day. Now I know this is a television show that attempts to show these women at their most dramatic, however this is what the North American church resembles. We believe it's about us. The Hebrew wedding was controlled by the Groom, not the Bride. The Groom made the arrangements, and the Bride was to prepare herself for her Husband. Revelation 19:7 states "Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready."

The church in North America needs to volunteer, give honor to Him (Jesus), and prepare herself to be His bride. The good news is that Revelation 19:7 says that will certainly happen. The question is who makes up the Bride?
